Winter Gift Basket Ideas

Need some thoughtful winter gift basket ideas and what to include in them? Look no further, today we will cover some great gifts to that can be included to build your perfect winter gift basket.

There’s a reason why Christmas is one of the most popular times to do a gift basket. Giving a gift basket conveys a sentiment that is strong and genuine, perfect for people who are hard to shop for or who may be far away from their loved ones this holiday season.

Coming up with ideas for Christmas gift baskets can be pretty easy but if you are like me and have a lot of friends or family with birthdays during the winter months, it is sometimes hard to find items to include in a Winter Gift Basket that does not include Christmas items.

To help out, I have put together my list of some of my favorite items to put in a winter gift basket. I hope these give you some inspiration to build some great Winter Gift Basket Ideas.

Items to Include in Winter Gift Baskets

Crochet Kit

I love the idea of a crochet kit since it is one of those items that can be used by so many people. This makes for a very affordable gift basket item. When deciding on which hook and yarn to include in the kit, I like to focus on what type of yarn would best fit the person receiving it. For someone who likes to wear a lot of sweaters, I might put together a wool worsted weight yarn along with some acrylic jumbo hooks.

For someone who likes sewing projects, I might create an inspiration kit with Rowan Alpaca Lace Yarn and some matching needles (sometimes matching needles can get expensive) along with an instructional book filled with patterns made from easy-to-follow diagrams and instructions on the making of the items (kind of like the book “Sewing for Dummies” but for sewing accessories). Planter and Seeds

Planter Winter Gift Basket Ideas

If you want to give a gift that can be used for many years, consider a decorative planter filled with seeds for flowers or herbs. I try to usually find one decrotive and big enough to add items to such as the one pictured from Shugar Plums Gifts.

The recipient can use it and then give it to their own friends or family members, growing their own flowers or herbs and giving them something they will use every spring and summer.

Socks

Winter is a time to keep warm so socks are a great choice for a basket, especially if there are multiple pair as I often include in my winter baskets. I love to include at least two pairs of men’s and women’s socks in my gift baskets since not everyone wears the same size shoe. I like to include a pair of thermal crew layer socks since they are often more expensive than regular sock and are great for staying warm.

Scarf

For someone who lives up north (like myself), consider a scarf in a solid color so that it matches everything in their wardrobe. I like to put together knitted infinity scarves, especially the kind with fringe at the ends. These types of scarves are also great for keeping warm during the winter months.

Nail Polish and Nail Art

A great gift for a female friend is a nail polish kit filled not just with different colors of nail polish, but also with some cute designs to use as decals to put on the nails. If the person you are gifting it to is the type that wears her fingernails short, then consider including some small or mini bottles of nail polish so she can add some color to her toes.

Tea Bags

Winter Gift Ideas Tea Bags

One of my favorite gifts to include in a gift basket is a box of tea bags. I like to include some varieties with different flavors, including green, black and herbal teas, as well as some different types of flavors. If tea is not your thing, you can also craft a coffee gift basket for the coffee lover in your life.

A fun sporty kind of gift could be a golf teacup and pencil set filled with all kinds of tea bags and teacups that you have collected over the years because this would make a great stocking stuffer or small gift item for someone who loves to play golf.

Candle

I love to include a nice, big candle in my winter gift baskets. It is a quick item to pick up and it can fill the room with such an alluring aroma that makes everything seem cozier and more inviting.

Grooming Kit

The winter months can be difficult for those who enjoy grooming because of the cold weather so include some items that will help them take care of themselves during these colder months. A good option would be to include a shaving kit with a variety of different razors, along with some shaving cream and aftershave lotion.

Kindle

Many times it is difficult for kids to get into reading over the Christmas holidays so a Kindle can be a great gift for them. They can download books from Amazon or use their own library of books, as well as access special deals that are offered throughout the season. They are easy to carry around and often smaller than most e-readers so they take up very little space in the basket. If you are not familiar with the kindle, check them out at the Amazon Kindle Store.

If you do not want to add the Kindle yourself, maybe purchase a Kindle gift card or create a unique card letting your loved one of the kindle book you purchased them

Gift Basket Wrapping Tote

I love to wrap my gift baskets in reusable gift wrapping bags that I purchased at the dollar store. These bags are great for keeping everything protected during shipping and for carrying the basket around during the days when you are doing your shopping. They also make for very cute little gift bags to put on top of the basket.

Bottle Opener

A bottle opener is another great item to include in your winter gift basket, especially one that can be attached to a key ring or a lanyard so that it is easy to carry. I remember years ago when I was younger, my mom gave me this really big metal bottle opener for Christmas and I still have it. It is heavy and although I do not use it much, I always keep it with me because it reminds me of my mom and my childhood.

Decorative Cookie Cutters

Cookie Cutters

One of my favorite items to include in my gift baskets are cookie cutters because they are so versatile and can be used over and over again. I like to include some nice, decorative shapes so they can be used as decorations outside during the summer instead of just inside on the table.

Hairbrush and Comb Set

Another item that one could include in their Christmas gift basket is a hairbrush and comb set. The person receiving it will have one item to make them feel like a million bucks when they get out of the shower.

Wine Aerator and Glasses

For a more adult-oriented gift, consider including some wine glasses that would match your wine selection. I always include a nice set of stemless wine glasses in my winter baskets because it is easier for people to drink at the table since stemless glasses are easier to hold and can be used with ice or without.

Your basket can include a variety of other inexpensive items that also make great gift givers. One good idea is to include a photo frame with your own special picture in it or even some stickers or temporary tattoos that kids can use to decorate their bodies. You could choose a few different color options and then they would be able to use them throughout the year. You can also add some candy in your gift basket and then they can put it into their own basket as well.

Winter Gift basket Ideas Conclusion

There are so many inexpensive gift baskets that you can make this holiday season and all of them will be enjoyed by the person receiving them. With the wide variety of items that you can include in your baskets, you can use your own creative skills to come up with perfect gifts for anyone on your list.
